Welcome
Welcome to the Harold S. Hook Center for Educational Leadership and District Renewal at the University of Missouri. I invite you to explore the Hook Center website to see the exciting research and service activities the Center is involved in.
The creation of the Hook Center — housed in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis — was made possible by a private gift from Harold and Joanne Hook.
A dedicated cadre of nationally recognized scholars and practitioners carry out the center's research and service mission.
Research
The center's scholars and practitioners focus on activities that help school districts perform at the highest levels and focus directly on school district functions, including:
- Developing an understanding of how districts can strategically manage their human resources, and
- Evaluating district roles in building instructional capacity throughout their schools.
Service
The Hook Center assists school districts to improve organizational performance that fosters the highest levels of student achievement. School districts are complex organizations with many moving parts that must work in concert to ensure the system fulfills its core mission — meeting the learning needs of students.Model-Netics stands as the Hook Center’s primary service activity. Model-Netics helps district and school leaders manage and lead change by providing a common language around topics such as management, leadership and organizational learning.
Welcome to the Hook Center!
